When as a budding minister I wrestled with how to reach the lost for Christ, Green’s book Evangelism Now & Then (IVP: 1979) was immensely helpful. He explained in this pocket size book how what happened then in the early church can happen now. Today, more than three decades later, Green continues to stir up my passion for evangelism. Reading Compelled by Joy (IVP 2011) was like sitting in a lounge room with a seasoned pastor who has dedicated his entire life as a Christ follower to the spread of the gospel. In many ways this book is autobiographical. As such, it is an easy read. It simply tells a convincing story – a story of someone who has a lifelong passion for evangelism.
