The CRCA recognises in importance of pastoral care in the church. In the church order we read: “The session shall ensure that pastoral care is extended to all members and regular attenders, with particular attention given to the sick, the distressed, the aged and the erring, and it shall encourage the members of the congregation to be faithfully involved in mutual care.” (Art. 66a).
How do you implement effective pastoral care system that truly reflects the value above of: "the members of the congregation to be faithfully involved in mutual care." One of the natural ways for mutual care to happen is through a well organised small group ministry. The South Gippsland CRC (VIC) desired to put such a system in place.
The attached document describes what this pastoral care system can look like in a local church, even during a pastoral vacancy.
