priorities smStrategic planning is the process churches of all sizes use to turn their God-inspired visions into realities.   Strategic planning bridges the gap between where you are and where God would have you go.

A strategy is the process that determines how your ministry will accomplish its mission and vision.    Mission and vision of the church answer the what questions:  what are we supposed to be doing?   What kind of church would God have us be?   Strategy answers the how questions:   how to do what we are supposed to do.

Developing your strategy will include five (5) key steps.   These include:

  1. Define your current Critical Success Factors—What are the few strategic areas on which it is critical to focus at this stage to accomplish your mission and vision?
  2. Determine your Measurements—How will you measure progress in each of the critical success factors you have defined?
  3. Identify your Church-Wide Objectives— Based on how you have determined you will measure progress, what is one far-reaching church-wide initiative that will insure progress in each critical area?
  4. Identify your Shared Goals—In what specific activity could your entire church participate to accomplish each church-wide objective?
  5. Develop Ministry Area Plans—What specific plans can each ministry leader and team implement to contribute to the accomplishment of the shared goals of the church?

Attached below you will find a link to the implementation tasks for each of the five steps.   These implementation tasks are to be used with the five training  videos on Strategic Planning for your Church:

  1. Introduction to Strategic Planning and Critical Success Factors
  2. Determining Your Measurements
  3. Identifying Your Church-Wide Objectives
  4. Identifying Your Shared Goals
  5. Developing Ministry Area Plans

But so few churches and Christians are bearing fruit. In fact, most churches are either maintaining the status quo or are in decline.
